What to Expect as a
New Patient
We want you to feel informed and comfortable before you even walk through our doors. Here is a general overview of what your first visit with us will look like.
It’s More Than Just a Cleaning
Many patients come in thinking they simply need a cleaning, and we completely understand. Your first visit, however, is designed to do more than that. It will give Dr. Gregor and our team a full picture of your oral health so we can provide care that is truly tailored to your needs.
Before any cleaning takes place, Dr. Gregor will perform a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. This includes digital X-rays and a full evaluation to understand where things stand and determine the best next steps for your smile.
If time allows and you’re candidate for a routine cleaning, we’ll complete it during the same visit. However, depending on the level of care needed, we may ask you to schedule a separate appointment for the cleaning.
If we find signs of gum disease or other concerns, we may recommend holding off on the cleaning until the underlying issue is addressed. This isn’t a delay. Cleaning unhealthy gums without proper treatment can cause more harm than good. We’ll walk you through exactly what we found and explain recommended next steps clearly.
Either way, you’ll leave with a clear understanding of your oral health and a plan built specifically for you.
What We’ll Cover at Your First Appointment
Your first visit typically includes:
A comprehensive oral exam with Dr. Gregor
Digital X-rays to identify anything below the surface
A full gum health evaluation
A cleaning, if your oral health allows for it that same day
A conversation about your goals, concerns, and any treatment recommendations
Most new patient exams are 90 minutes long. During that time, we collect your medical history and discuss your goals for treatment.
We’ll Walk You
Through Everything
Our front desk team will let you know ahead of time how long your visit will be and what it will involve. We believe an informed patient is a comfortable patient, and we want you to feel prepared before you arrive, not surprised when you get here.
If you have any questions before your appointment, please call us. We are happy to walk you through anything.
Dental Insurances
We work with a wide range of insurance plans to make your care as accessible as possible.
We are in-network with Excellus BC/BS, Anthem BC/BS, and Univera (PPO and Medicare plans only). We’re also able to submit claims for out-of-network plans.
Please note that we are unable to accept state-held or Medicaid plans, as they do not offer out-of-network coverage.
If you don’t see your plan listed, give us a call, our team will be happy to help you understand your options.
